The White Genocide Conspiracy Theory And Why It’s Nonsense

Do you want to hear something crazy? Let me tell you about a conspiracy theory popular among the alt-right, white nationalists and fascists (or whatever you want to call them). It’s that the white race is facing extinction and that evil unseen forces are plotting to wipe it out. A genocide is happening right before our eyes yet no one has noticed [insert mandatory ‘wake up people!’ here]. Like all conspiracy theories, it’s riddled with holes, flaws and a complete lack of evidence (not that it matters to true believers). Most of it is openly racist propaganda and white supremacist hate. I will admit I do find something fascinating about crazy and bizarre political ideas, which lead me to write this article. Capitalism And Freedom

Milton Friedman is one of the most famous economists that ever lived, yet reading his most famous book, Capitalism And Freedom; it is hard to see why. The book is surprisingly basic and doesn’t offer much of an argument. Friedman merely states things (such as the minimum wage causes unemployment) without offering any supporting evidence. It is as though simply saying it was enough to make it true. There are hardly any references or citations in the book, which makes it very difficult to know if any of what he says is actually true. There is no reference to history or current affairs or if any of his ideas have worked before or if his criticisms reflect reality. Continue reading “Capitalism And Freedom”

What We Don’t Know

For the free market to work it is assumed that everyone knows everything, or at least everything they need to know. However the world is full of things we know nothing about. This is the problem of asymmetric information, where one person knows more than the other. This creates many problems which hamper the operation of the free market and prevent it from reaching the perfect equilibrium. Continue reading “What We Don’t Know”

We Need To Talk About Travellers

We need to talk about Travellers. We need to talk about the way we treat them, the way we view them. The way we discriminate against them. The hatred and bigoted prejudices we hold against them. The way we exclude them from our society, pretend they aren’t there. The way we mock their culture, the way they talk, the way they look. Travellers are people too, just as human as you or I, but most people view them parasites on society. Most of my friends openly describe Travellers as violent, drunken scumbags. We need to talk about our own Apartheid system with our own inferior underclass. We need to talk about Travellers. Continue reading “We Need To Talk About Travellers”

Economics Of Discrimination

If we were rational logical people living in a neo-classical world there would be no discrimination. People would only be judged according to their productivity and nothing else. All races would receive equal pay and job opportunities. In fact Milton Friedman even developed a theory in which racist firms would be driven out of business by inclusive firms. Yet discrimination does exist. For generations many businesses would only hire white people. Even today ethnic minorities are paid less than white people and suffered from higher unemployment. The perfect neo-classical utopia does not exist. Social norms determine action just as much as pure economics. We need government to right the wrongs of the free market. Ron Paul – Radical Or Ridiculous?

Ron Paul is either a respectable, insightful voice of liberty or an eccentric old fool clinging to long out dated and daft ideas. A man who will save us from the clutches big government or someone who will deliver us into the claws of big business. Someone willing to challenge the PC brigade and speak the truth or a bigoted racist. A voice of common sense or a man ignorant of facts of life. A brave advocate of a new vision for American foreign policy or an isolationalist crank who wishes to cut America off from the rest of the world. A man who can bring great prosperity to the nation or economic Armageddon. Someone who belongs in the White House as leader of the free world or someone who belongs in a cave wearing a tinfoil hat, muttering conspiracy theories. Just Who Is Rick Santorum?

(This article was originally written for The College Tribune in January. I was anxious to talk about Santorum because I didn’t think he’d be around for much longer.)

Do you think homosexuals are destroying America? Do you think the government should stop giving money to black people? Do you think universities are brain washing students? Do you think contraceptives are damaging society? Don’t believe in Evolution or Global Warming? If so then you’ll love Rick Santorum, who’s running for the Republican nomination for President. The former Senator from Pennslyvania hit the headlines after winning the Iowa primary three weeks ago. Continue reading “Just Who Is Rick Santorum?”
